Permanent Gallery Closure
Dear friends,
We’re sorry to announce the closure of Breese Little from the end of the current exhibition, 31 Women, on 29 July.
The gallery has evolved through many different forms since 2010, including our much loved spaces in Clerkenwell before opening in Bethnal Green in June 2016. It’s been a huge privilege to work with the energetic community of artists, curators and institutions who have contributed to our programme over the years.
The new space in Bethnal Green and the valued support from our neighbours enabled us to mount an ambitious programme, committed to longer and fewer exhibitions, allowing for a more considered critical approach. We have been unable to sustain the programme with the focus we envisaged, however, and rather than compromise the scope of our exhibitions, and the depth of contact with artists, have come to the sad decision of permanently closing Breese Little.
We’d like to thank all of the artists, galleries, writers, curators, interns and supporters who have contributed so much to the gallery during its existence. We’d also like to acknowledge the generous and longstanding support of the gallery’s collectors and clients who have been essential to the life of the programme. We’ve been delighted to place works in many important private and institutional collections in recent years, working alongside artists whose work we strongly believe in.
If you haven’t already had time to visit we hope to welcome you to 31 Women in the final few days of the show.
We look forward to staying in touch.
Josephine and Henry
